OH8061. South of In-Koh-Pah Park, this early section of US Route 80 terminates where Interstate 8 was built through the area. The original Route 80 Section continues on the other side of the modern freeway.

Two Bridges In One
Two Bridges In One by T.M. Schultze The original bridge dates to about 1915 and carried the original Bankhead Highway traffic over the San Diego-Arizona Eastern railway which runs from Plaster City to Tecate, Mexico. That bridge was replaced in 1931 by the current bridge. The Eastern retaining wall of the original highway was maintained and carries traffic, but a new retaining wall was built on the Western side that bypasses the stretch of original concrete I am standing on in this photograph.
